Who Needs A Coach?

Theoretically, everyone needs a coach. The ones who are experiencing their expectation hangovers need a coach the most. At the right time, you need the right person for you with faith, hope, and love.

Everyone needs a coach. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a basketball player, a tennis player, a gymnast or a bridge player. We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve.                                                                                                                                                                -Bill Gates

In his viral 2013 TED talk, Bill Gates mentioned one essential key point for everyone: feedback helps us improve, grow, and transform. But how often do we get genuine and factual feedback in our life?

Sometimes, people are afraid to give others feedback because the scene can be harsh and brutal. Sometimes, people are scared of getting feedback since genuine and factual feedback can break our hearts and question our identities. However, we stay where we are and often circle around without feedback.

If you have big dreams, you want to take a giant leap in your life, you want to improve yourself, and you want to become the person you are meant to be, coaches can give you constructive feedback, help you see the patterns in your life, and remove limiting beliefs you had which are not serving you anymore.

In my coaching experience as a coach, I realized my clients often come to me with their expectation hangovers. Therefore, if you are experiencing one of the three things in your life, then it indicates it is the best timing to consider having a coach:

  1. Life doesn't go according to your plan: life is dynamic and mysterious. It is great to have a plan, but life often doesn't follow our plans, and unexpected situations occur. What should you do next?
  2. Life goes according to your plan, but it doesn't feel like you thought you would: e.g., you think you will be happy and satisfied when you have a job working for a big company with a decent salary, but when you had it all, you are not happy and even a bit sad. How would this happen?
  3. Life throws you an unexpected curveball: sometimes we are lucky and get delightful surprises from our life, but we are sometimes unlucky and get terrified surprises out of the blue. Is this a punishment, or can it also be a gift for us?

Expectation Hangovers are not easy for everyone. If you are helpless and even hopeless, a coach can help you. How to overcome all these difficult times and see possibilities and opportunities in the future are the work you will do with your coaches.
